Ocamsoft Ltd. was founded in 2019 by Mark Hickey and Carmine Giardino. One, a former physicist, the other a software engineer with a background in computer science. That partnership in the world of investment banking, insurance and FinTech continues to yield exceptional results the way systems are designed and how software is written in low-cost, robust, timely and performant way.

After graduating from University College Cork, Ireland, in physics and applied mathematics, Mark undertook postgraduate studies in physics at Cambridge and went on to work at the University of Leeds, MIT (as a Fulbright Fellow) and the University of Massachusetts. The focus of his academic research has been the spin of the electron and its use in quantum computing components and magnetic materials. Since leaving academia, he has worked as a consultant for Ab Initio Software, as a lead developer within the Custody and Funds services of Citi, as a contracting consultant for SKS (now Accenture) and software consultant with the trading team at Jefferies. Within those companies, he has designed and developed a mission-critical data integration and delivery hub, an automated data quality rule detection system, worked on a generic, multi-platform build and deployment system, upgraded, modernised and deployed components for data delivery and auto- negotiation for electronic trading platforms. With a physicist's mind, Mark is driven by hard problems with a view to find and implement simple and beautiful solutions.

Carmine is a Principal Software Engineer with over a decade of experience designing and implementing large-scale, data-intensive systems for the financial and insurance industries. He specialises in building scalable, cloud-native solutions on AWS and Azure, with deep expertise in microservices, distributed architectures, and container orchestration.
He has led major initiatives at Munich Re, Fidelity Investments, Citi, and IBM, delivering high-impact platforms for underwriting, regulatory compliance, and secure data processing. With a strong background in bridging architecture and development, Carmine ensures that complex designs translate into reliable, production-ready systems.
Certified in both AWS and Azure, and published in IEEE/Elsevier on agile software development, he brings a blend of technical excellence and strategic insight to every project. Whether guiding cloud transformation, modernising legacy systems, or implementing AI-driven solutions, Carmine is passionate about simplifying complexity and driving measurable business results.
